William (“Bill”) Harold Wright (1946-2020) passed away peacefully at the age of 73, on Monday, April 27, 2020, at Kaiser Modesto following a series of serious illnesses.
Brother of Richard Wright (deceased), he is survived by his daughter, Wendi Freeman and son-in-law, Jim; his granddaughter, Eva L’Ren; his neice, Laurie; his nephew, Chris; Todd and Lisa (who called him “Uncle Bill”); his ex-wife, Cheryl; Marvin Cooper (deceased); and many close friends, including Vance S.; John G.; Ralph F.; Greg V.; Simon T.; as well as his beloved cat “Betsy.”
Born in Turlock on 10/16/1946, the second son of Ina and John (“Jack”), the family moved to Redwood City when Bill was young. After graduating from Sequoia High School in 1965, he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam era, receiving a medical discharge. Bill and Cheryl were married in 1968. He worked for Caltrans until his retirement. An avid golfer, Bill’s favorite pastimes were watching movies, baseball, especially golf, and listening to music. He was a disc jockey for over 25 years intermittently and coached Little League and Babe Ruth teams, playing baseball into his forties.
Everyone who knew Bill awaited his latest news of a new or different car and/or his latest planned move, having moved recently to Modesto.
Bill will live on in our hearts and be loved forever.
There will not be a service for Bill due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
