John Booke passed away on April 28, 2020, at his home in Stockton, CA at the age of 65.
His Celebration of Life will be held at a future date that’s undecided at this time.
John was born on September 18, 1954 in Richmond, California to Mary Lou Westfall and James William Booke.
He served 4 years in the United States Army from 1973-1977, most notably as a Military Police Officer in Germany. He then joined the Butchers Union for 10 years. He worked at PG&E for 27 years until his retirement in 2014; starting as a Meter Reader and diligently working his way up to the Director of Electrical Operations.
John was a caring and nurturing person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. Being the oldest of his siblings, he had the tendency to take on the big brother role to those he was closest to. When he was lounging in his man cave (aka the garage), he would chat with everyone who walked by and he quickly became the neighborhood favorite. He had a magnetic personality and was able to form a connection with just about anyone.
You could always find him reading a thriller or mystery novel by the pool, learning something new on the History channel, or remodeling the backyard. He had a passion for gardening and his green thumb could bring any plant back to life.
He is survived by his Wife, Jodi Booke; Daughter, Michelle Booke; Mother, Mary Booke; nine siblings, Phil, Mary, Jason, David, Daniel, Steven, Russ, Reed, and Joe Booke; two Stepsons and their wives, Jeremy and Sarah DeFonzo and Josh and Kelly DeFonzo; and four grandchildren, Drew, Dakota, Dean and Hendrix Defonzo. And his dog, Harley.
