Joan Hagglund Innes 

Joan Hagglund Innes, 88, passed away peacefully due to long term illness on Monday, May 24, 2021, in Stockton, California. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Innes.

Joan was born to Bernard “Ben” Hagglund and Eleanore MacRae Hagglund, in San Leandro, California. She grew up in the Bay Area and raised her family in the Central Valley.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Wally Hagglund, her sister-in-law Jackie Hagglund, Olaf Winningstad, and her close friends Jan Shaffer and Marilyn (Lamb) Wirth. In addition to being survived by her husband, George, Joan is also survived by her children Sarah MacRae Innes of Rochester, MA, Alex George Innes and wife Julie Innes of Lodi, CA; 3 grandchildren Eleanore MacRae Sullivan, Christopher Demoro Innes, Alexander George Innes Jr.; her brother Don Hagglund; her sister-in-law Sandy (Hagglund) Forderer; her brother-in-law John Innes and Cathy Innes; as well as 9 nieces and nephews.

Joan attended the University of California, Davis before completing her degree at the University of California, Berkley. She became a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority while in school and stayed an active member supporting local chapters for many years. Joan was also an active member of the PEO, a group of women supporting women’s higher education through Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. She worked in real estate for many years in Woodland, California after raising her children. Joan was also an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Woodland, California, serving on various boards and committees throughout her time there.

Joan loved to travel with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.  

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 16, 10:30 am, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Stockton.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made to the Ben L. Hagglund Scholarship Fund at the University of California, Davis.
