Obituary
Dorothy L. Sullivan, also known to many as Dot was born from the union of Lowell and Oddie Mae Hicks on December 6, 1941 in Florida. She was the fourth born of nine children. Her family moved to Chicago when she was a young girl. She remained in Chicago during her formative and young adult years and was educated in the Chicago Public Schools graduating from Crane High School.
Dorothy married her childhood love Bobbie R. Sullivan Sr. in Chicago. From their union three children were born: Bobbie R. Sullivan Jr.; Tammie Theresa Marshall; and William R. Sullivan III.
Dorothy worked in various retail department stores and ultimately found her niche’ working in the financial industry. She began as a bank teller, then a loan officer and went on to become a branch manager. She worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years before retiring.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her beautiful, warm and welcoming smile. Her laughter was infectious and she had a heart full of love for everyone. She really loved the Lord and her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughters. She had an incredible knack and eye for home decorating. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Chicago, Il. She enjoyed reading her bible and participating in Women’s bible study groups and was a member of Love Fellowship Baptist Church in Stockton, CA.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Bobbie, Tammie Marshall (Greg), and William; four grandchildren, Dahlys Marshall, Cameron Marshall (Aisha), Byron Marshall (Jessica), and Princeton Sullivan; two greatgranddaughters, Mya Marshall and MaKenna Marshall; sister A. Ruth Brazelton; brother Jeffrey Hicks both of Chandler Az; sister-in-law Doretha Ellison of Chicago, Il and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, both parents, five brothers and one sister
