Samuel Avalos obituary
Samuel Raymond Avalos, the tenth of twelve children, was born to Felipe Galaz Avalos and Estella Mae Thompson Avalos on August 3, 1949 in Five Points, CA.
Prior to serving in the U.S. Army, Samuel graduated from James Lick High School and attended San Jose State University. He later attended Bethany Bible College and received an AA degree.
In 1964 Samuel was baptized in the First Apostolic Church, nominated for Deaconship in 1968, and later ordained to the ministry by Pastor Juan Amaya on June 6, 1971.
From January 1970 to April 1971, Samuel was deployed in Vietnam where he was well decorated, serving as a combat medic.
Samuel married Rosemary Lopez on September 18, 1971 and had two daughters, Emmy and Natalie.
A beloved local minister, Samuel hosted various community events and prayer groups, including activities for the Vintage Park Community, such as the St Patrick’s Day celebration.
Samuel is survived by his two daughters, Second Partner of 10.5 years, Kathryn, five siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Samuel will be memorialized with a Veterans Memorial Brick at the new Veterans Memorial in Elk Grove, CA.
He will be remembered as an anointed Man of God, whose spiritual gifts inspired all who knew him.
