Paul Langdon Obituary

Paul Gerard Langdon was born on December 22,1968, in Syosset, New York to Harland and Jane Langdon and entered into rest on November 14, 2019. Paul was the youngest of 9 children. Paul grew up in a very loving and nurturing Catholic family environment.

When Paul graduated from University of California at Davis with a 4.21 GPA he took a top management job at Walmart and was quickly promoted to regional supervisor. However, his true love was teaching and working with children. Paul later became an educator at the high school level in the Bay Area. He was voted Teacher of the Year by his peers in San Francisco. He also sometime later took a substitute teaching job down in Oceanside, California and in the first week on the job was awarded a full time position. In addition he taught locally at Stagg High School in the 1990’s. Paul excelled in many areas of life both professionally and personally. Paul was also a caregiver for his beloved mother Jane Bernadette DeGroot who was afflicted with Parkinson's Disease. Paul knew exactly how to take care of her and how to feed her. The way Paul handled the most vulnerable, our children and the elderly, speaks volumes as to his empathy, compassion and kindness for humanity. After Paul oversaw the delicate handling of his mothers graceful passing at the assisted living home he was immediately swept into another tough project of caring for his 93 year old blind and diabetic “Uncle Bob.” The irony of all this is that Paul entered this life posed with several health challenges himself. Paul was born very premature, with a still born twin and had a weak kidney.  One could say he came into this world fighting and conversely went out fighting. He never gave up but God wanted him. His immune system had been compromised for far too long not to mention dating back to birth. Nonetheless, he never complained and instead rather selflessly helped others. His life was cut short and he will be immeasurably missed.

Paul was predeceased by his father Dr. Harland Edwin Langdon, mother Jane Bernadette DeGroot, brothers Michael Joseph Langdon and Joseph Martin Langdon, and his uncle Robert (Bob) Francis Murphy. Paul is survived by his brothers Tim langdon, Tom langdon, John Langdon, Martin Langdon; sisters Mary Vink (Bart) and Katie Gauuan (Cary) and numerous nieces, grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews. Paul was also fortunate to have Hetty Boland in his life who helped raise Paul since he was an infant and was like a second mother to him. Paul was surrounded by family, the local church chaplain, friends, etc up to his passing. A special thanks to Dee Khan from Hospice for all of her caring, love, and support to Paul in his time of need. Although Paul’s life was cut short, all his tireless work on earth will bode him well with the heavens. May his spirit rest and God shine upon him his unfettered glory.
